BOLD Enters District 7 Final 4 For the 6th Consecutive Year
Posted July 17, 2017
The BOLD Mudhens survived a scare from a confident Granite Falls team by scoring two unearned runs in the bottom the 7th in the D7 SE semi-finals on Saturday. The same two teams met again on Sunday in the finals and this time the Mudhens, and pitcher James Woelfel, left no doubt. The junior right hander struck out 14 and surrendered no hits in seven innings of work. Max Buchtel (six RBIs) and Luke Ryan (5 SB) led the offense.
The Sub-District title places BOLD in the District 7 Final 4 for the 6th consecutive year, and 7th in the past eight years.
2017 will usher in a new playoff format for the Final 4 in District 7. Semi-final play will match up the champions of the SE and SW Sub-Districts, and the champions of the NW and NE Sub Districts, in a best two out of three series to be played at both home sites on July 18th and 20th. BOLD will host Minneota at 7pm on the 18th and travel to Minneota on the 20th for the remaining two (or three) games of the series. Meanwhile Glenwood-Lowrie will host NLS to begin the north series.
